I'm ecstatic to learn that water vole numbers are increasing on the River Chess, near to Watford where I live.
Mink control schemes have been implemented on the River Chess in recent years and they appear to have worked wonders for the water vole population.
The return of otters in other parts of Hertfordshire and Essex have helped, as they are a predator of mink. Maybe one day otters will return to the Chiltern rivers!
